Last night was the final meeting of the ‘KlimatSamtal’ workshop series Laura has been teaching at the Medborgarskolan in Mariestad. A group of enthusiastic Swedes worked on reducing their footprint and they practised having a pleasant climate conversation. Have you ever had a difficult climate conversation? Do you know why it became a difficult conversation?
Conversations about climate and behavioural change are often fraught and can degenerate into a kind of fight instead of a pleasant conversation. Laura is a climate coach at Stichting KlimaatGesprekken, where she learned how to manage these kinds of conversations.
We would like to thank a number of people who helped with this first workshop series from KlimatSamtal in Sweden. Anna van der Tol from Medborgskolan who helped with the organisation, marketing and facilitation of a classroom; Sofia Guldbrand and Helena Torsell from the Unesco Biosfärområde Vänerskärgården med Kinnekulle who provided a grant to cover some expenses; Rosemary Randall from Carbon Conversations UK for permission to use their materials and method; Tara Wilkie from Carbon Conversations TO who provided an updated e-book; Peter vd Tol from Mariestads kommun who, as a guest speaker on the topic of ‘energy consumption’, taught the participants a lot; and of course the participants like Jeroen Ehlen for their active and inspiring contribution. Laura also learnt new things and gained #inspiration to continue working on our own #footprint.
Based on the evaluations, we will further refine this KlimatSamtal workshop series and come up with a new series in 2023. Would you like to stay informed about these developments? If so, send us a message so that we can inform you as soon as it comes.
